Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports has written a great article that makes an excellent case that the single season home run record is still 61. Ryan Howard has just hit his 52 home run, prompting questions about whether or not he has taken performance enhancing drugs. When you really think about it, these are fair questions now that Gaitlin, Bonds, Jones, Landis, McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro, Canseco, Grimsley, and others have all been outed as cheaters. It's really sad that pro sports these days is dominated by cheaters when it used to be dominated by those with natural talent, drive, competetive spirit, and untiring work ethic.
